If you love embroidery but don't stitch; or if you haven't got time to commit to a full course then why not try the following event - the perfect opportunity to see some fine embroidery and to enjoy a talk from an expert in their field.
1) Whitework Study Day at Hampton Court Palace with historian Heather Toomer - Saturday 17 July
An introduction to whitework used in fashion from the late 16th to 19th century. Study changes in design from early geometric cutworks to elaborate 18th century Dresden imitating lace, and 19th century Ayrshire and broderie anglaise.
Study days will alternate illustrated lectures with time to study a wide range of original examples from the relevant collection under expert guidance. (No stitching is involved).
