Keeping the art of hand embroidery alive.
The Royal School of Needlework is based at Hampton Court Palace. Our mission is to teach, practise and promote the art of hand embroidery to the highest standards, within both historical and contemporary design contexts.
All RSN students, whether on a one day course or for a year or more, are taught the traditional techniques of hand stitching. How students then go on to use the stitches is up to each individual. This approach encourages the greatest flexibility to use traditional stitches in a modern context.
We offer

Our Studio undertakes new commissions and conservation/restoration of historical embroidered pieces

- A Collection of textiles and archive materials comprising some 60,000 objects

- An unique opportunity to learn embroidery techniques from highly skilled RSN graduates.
