Canvas Design & Painting – NE


Students will learn how to adapt, transfer and paint a design onto canvas ready for stitching and will be introduced to canvas painting using either fabric or oil paints. Different styles and designs can be explored and will be tailored to an appropriate level of experience for you.

Creative Watercolours – NE


Learn how to use watercolours with confidence and expression. Experiment with paints, brushes, papers, colour mixing and many techniques and effects. This is a general class for anyone interested in learning how to paint with watercolours although reference will be made to the use of watercolours as a design medium for embroidery.

Decorative Plant Form Designs for Embroidery – NE


Floral motifs and patterns have been used throughout the history of embroidery and this course has been created for anyone who would like to explore the importance of stylised plant forms in traditional and contemporary embroidery. Taking inspiration from the patterns and underlying geometry found in nature, students will explore methods used to design stylised floral motifs for embroidery. Whilst taking into consideration the purpose of the design, whether it be for a cushion, a book cover, for fashion or just as a pictorial piece we will discuss and experiment with embroidery techniques in order to create an exciting and beautiful piece of work. This exciting course is essential for anyone interested in developing design skills.
