Wool Circle £500.00 per annum
Wool has been used for centuries, eg for the world famous Bayeaux Tapestry,
crewelwork and embroidered tapestry. William Morris and Walter Crane created designs to be produced in wool work by the RSN, some of which were displayed at the Philadelphia Centennial Exhibition in 1876, taking art needlework to the United States. In 2009 the RSN created embroidered hangings for the Great Tower at Dover Castle in Kent using crewel wool to embroider in the 12th century style.
